How Will 'Game of Thrones' End? A Tarot Reader Predicts EVERYTHING

On April 14, the long-awaited eighth and final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones will be released to the world—along with the answers to all its cliffhanging questions like: Who kills Cersei? What’s going to happen to Jon Snow and Daenerys’s relationship now that we know they’re related? How will the battle play out? And finally: Who will take the Iron Throne?

While there are a million fan theories about how the thrilling show ends, Game of Thrones never shies away from shocking its audience—and now that the show has surpassed the books, there’s no looking to the pages to see who will fall and who will triumph. To gain insight into what may happen, I consulted my Cosmic Tarot deck for divine information. I used this Tarot deck because it is rich in visual and symbolic meaning. There is also a severity to it, there is no second guessing what each of the cards mean. Some of the figures illustrated in the deck even resemble the characters of the series! Here’s what they have to say about all our burning season finale questions.

How will Cersei die?

The short answer: The Iron Bank

Who: 6 of Pentacles

The sixes in Tarot usually bring about a time of rest and gentility. However, their presence here indicates that money will be a driving factor, and that the person or group of people will be very wealthy and deceivingly generous. This tells me that the killer will be the Iron Bank as we know that the Lannisters are in great debt to them, and “the Iron Bank will have its due.” I believe that Cersei will not be able to pay the debt. The Iron Bank, whom she borrowed even more money from to buy the Golden Company (an army of mercenaries) to battle Daenerys, will prove to be her undoing.

Why: 6 of Swords

The 6 of Swords tells us that Cersei’s decision to turn on her word to support the army of the living, to wait for the White Walkers to decimate her enemies, will alarm the Iron Bank once they realize what is truly at stake, and perhaps through the persuasion of her brother/sometimes lover Jamie Lannister or the brother she loathes, Tyrion. There will be no civilization left if they do not support the defense against the White Walkers, and if they ever want what’s owed to them, they will eventually side with Daenerys.

How: Queen of Pentacles

The Iron Bank will assassinate Cersei in her home, in a very impersonal, by the numbers way, possibly by the same mercenaries she herself hired. She will think everything is going as planned, but she has no idea that she will be killed during her pregnancy, just as Talisa Stark, the wife of the late Robb Stark, was murdered during hers by the Lannisters.

Will Jon Snow and Daenerys marry? How will their relationship change now that we know they’re related?

The short answer: Their love will only grow!

Jon’s reaction to his lineage: VIII Justice

It is no surprise to me that Jon would react with the energy of Justice. Throughout the series, he has been a moral compass in a world of betrayal and self-servitude. Jon will be shocked at first, but he will see the good he could do, the wrongs he could right, at his newfound claim to power.

Daenerys’s reaction to his lineage: XI Strength

Most believe that she will now see Jon as a threat to her claim, but with the Strength card appearing, Tarot tells us that she will tame her ego and realize how this will empower their army and cause even more. She may even train him to ride Rhaegal, one of her dragons, as she will understand that two dragon riders fighting against the Night King is better than one.

Outcome: 6 of Swords and 4 of Wands

If you see the images on both of these cards, both figures, a man and a woman, are in the exact same pose, balanced and at peace. The man in shades of night (Jon Snow), and the woman in shades of sun (Daenerys Targaryen). The 6 of Swords brings the energy of peace, the weapons have been laid down, and the sky is clear. The 4 of Wands brings the energy of completion, fulfillment, and satisfaction. Together, they communicate the harmony and cooperation the two will find, in ruling, in battle, and in love (even though Jon Snow is technically her nephew, but at least they aren’t brother and sister).

Did Tormund Giantsbane survive the attack on the wall by the Night King, and will he and Brienne of Tarth end up together?

The short answer: Yes and yes.

Tormund’s fate: III The Empress

According to Tarot (and I hope with all my heart that it’s right) Tormund is alive and well. The Empress signifies health and passion. Tormund must see his beloved Brienne, his love for her strengthens him and gives him what he needs to surmount great obstacles, not even the Night King riding on a zombie dragon can stop Tormund from returning to his one true love.

Brienne’s fate: Ace of Wands

Brienne will be too busy fighting the great war to think about poor Tormund. Ace of Wands ignites her, she will be skilled, emboldened, and furious on the battle field.

Their future together: 2 of Wands and Princess of Pentacles

Not only will Tormund return to Brienne, the 2 of Wands indicates he will convince her to see the wonderful future they could have together. The man in this card is confident and planning big things (big family, big children, anything big will make Tormund happy). The Princess of Pentacles is the blossoming of romance, it is young, and fresh, like spring. Brienne will seem turned off, but in fact she is just shy, as Tormund is the only man who ever thought her to be beautiful. I smell romance blossoming!

What will happen to Jaime and Tyrion Lannister?

The short answer: Jamie might die and Tyrion will suffer great losses.

Jaime’s fate: XXI The World and 5 of Pentacles

Will Jamie be the one who saves The World? This major arcana, signifying completion and victory, may point to a very important clue. Jamie was the one who killed The Mad Kind, and prevented him from burning down a whole city and half a million people. With the 5 of Pentacles, this act of heroism and retribution will come at a great cost. According to the cards, Jamie will die, or at least suffer a great loss in his act of heroism.

Tyrion’s fate: 3 of Pentacles and 7 of Cups

Tyrion will be essential in planning and strategy, the 3 of Pentacles suggests that he will be key in getting all the quarreling factions to work together in the war between the living and the dead. With the 7 of Cups, there is also a great sense of loss. The figure is mourning, perhaps mourning the death of his brother Jamie, mourning the destruction of the war, in the end feeling hopeless. He may have sacrificed everything, his idea of a future, his own family name, and he can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s to hoping that some sense of happiness finds Tyrion by the end of the series.

How will Game of Thrones end?

The short answer: With Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen on the throne.

Well, here are some cards I did not expect. The series has been an emotional roller coaster for all seven seasons, with untimely deaths and heart breaking events. Perhaps the final season will be the most surprising, as it will be straightforward and even hopeful.

How the battle will unfold: XIX The Sun, 4 of Wands, and 10 of Cups

The Sun brings clarity and vitality, with the army of the dead threatening the very existence of life, the remaining armies of Westeros will finally see that the quarrelling between the families must stop, and everyone must unite. The Sun also calls into mind the importance of fire. The fire of the dragons will be key to defeating the White Walkers. There is also another weapon that could prove to be the deus ex machina of the war, wildfire. Last seen used by Cersei to destroy her enemies in the Great Sept of Baelor, there is still supposedly much wildfire hidden in Westeros.

The 4 of Wands brings a balance of effort, everyone will do their part, because they know they are fighting for something bigger than themselves. It will not come down to one single hero, victory will depend on everyone involved. The 10 of Cups reveals the motivation, the warriors who fight against the dead will be leading with their heart. For the first time in their lives, they won’t be fighting for a house, but for humanity.

Who will sit at the Iron Throne: XX Judgement, and VI The Lovers

It will not be one, but two rulers who sit on the Iron Throne, The Lovers: Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. Judgement reveals that they will liberate Westeros, and the people will have chosen them as the rightful King and Queen. They have proven, with their hearts, that they can righteously lead.

The fate of Westeros : XVII The Star

What a wonderful card to end the series on, The Star. This is the card of hope and optimism after intense loss and turmoil. By the end of the war, many will have fallen, and cities destroyed, but The Star tells us that those who remain will be inspired to begin a completely new chapter of Westeros. It will not be lead by houses, or armies, and the hunger for power, but instead by peace and fairness. They will realize the cannibalistic nature of how things were, and instead rebuild for a better future.
